Over the past two years, since the Västgöta-Data AB took over the development of zFTPServer, the application has seen some major improvements and has continued to be a stable and reliable solutions for personal and corporate use alike.

From the ground up we have built zFTPServer with quality, ease of use and performance in mind. This evidently has created a nearly rock solid solution. The very few customers we have for our commercial priority support and automatic service monitoring have primarily suffered problems directly related to firewall configuration and Internet connectivity problems. We have also not tied our customers up in any way. Sadly it seems that a more proficient sales model would be to have inferior code quality so that corporate customers really would need a support agreement. We however aim for the best quality, reliability and stability and thus it would seem the number of “needed” support agreements have not sufficed to fund development.

This has caused us to change our licensing model and introduce 5 different licensing options (for quality purposes with one common code base). Of course the 30 day trial offers the ability to try out all of the features so that you may decide what you need.

zFTPServer Suite Free covers basic FTP Server functionality for those “just” wanting a FTP-server. zFTPServer Suite Free is free for personal use with limitations in the number of accounts and advanced functionality offered.

zFTPServer Suite Personal is targeted for personal users with additional support for SSL/TLS, scripting and upload balancing. This package is suitable for the large majority of FTP-users.

zFTPServer Suite Professional is our full fledged package for personal use. It covers an unlimited number of accounts as well as Reactive and Proactive scripting, speed scheduling, AD integration and SFTP. This is for advanced users wanting for example to use SFTP and have files virus checked automatically on upload.

zFTPServer Suite Corporate covers FTP-server functionality for corporate/organizational use including Active Directory Integration and IP & Domain Access control at both server and account level. High performance and low resource footprint along with advanced security features makes zFTPServer Suite Corporate the choice of preference to most businesses.

zFTPServer Suite Enterprise is basically a Professional edition for corporate/organizational use including all functionality such as SFTP-support and scripting in essence making it a fully fledged business integration server. The Enterprise Edition buffs all functionality along with an unlimited number of users and accounts.

Current users of the “old” zFTPServer Suite (without additional extensions) can upgrade at half price. Current users having bought any extension will have their license file automatically interpreted as Professional or Enterprise respectively once an upgrade has been performed.

We would like to point out that upgrading requires a reinstallation of the application, taking a few minutes. All user accounts and server settings will be preserved after installation (if supported by the licensing model you choose).

With this change of license model we hope that you, our esteemed users, will not feel wrath but rather see this as an opportunity to further let us improve the application. We have many aces up our sleeve and as soon as possible we will continue to evolve and develop the application the benefit of all involved.
